From the north, the route uses I-79 South, I-77 South, I-64 West toward Huntington, then US-119 South toward Logan before exiting on Gaston Caperton Drive. From the west, DCR directions use I-64 West/I-77 North toward Charleston, then US-119 South toward Logan.

From the south, the official route uses US-119 North from the Williamson area, exits left on Gaston Caperton Drive, and continues to the jail. Boone County families should plan the trip as a regional jail visit, not a courthouse stop.
